Plein-Aircon Z999/1250 – 230 V Smart Switch Power Supply Kit

The Z999/1250 Smart Switch Transformer Kit is an original accessory designed to operate the 12 V Indel B / OFF Plein-Aircon rooftop air conditioner from a 230 V mains supply.

The Plein-Aircon is fundamentally a 12 V DC-powered unit. With the Z999/1250 kit, the air conditioner can also receive the required 12 V DC supply when an external 230 V mains connection is available. The manufacturer identifies the kit as the “230 V Smart Switch Transformer Kit.”

Operating principle

The system consists of the following main elements:

230 V AC mains → AC/DC power supply → Smart Switch → Plein-Aircon

The vehicle’s auxiliary/service battery is also connected to the Smart Switch, so it remains part of the Plein-Aircon 12 V power supply system. In the manufacturer’s wiring diagram, the AC/DC converter is identified by part number 80830384.

The primary purpose of the Z999/1250 is therefore not battery charging, but supplying the Plein-Aircon with the required 12 V DC power when a 230 V mains connection is available.

Built-in protection functions

The power supply includes several electronic protection functions:

The power supply also features Remote ON/OFF control, a DC-OK status signal, and a separate 12 V / 0.5 A auxiliary output.

Recommended applications

The Z999/1250 kit is primarily recommended for motorhomes, campervans and other vehicles equipped with a Plein-Aircon 12 V rooftop air conditioner, where a 230 V external mains connection is available while the vehicle is stationary.

Typical applications include:

operation from a 230 V campsite hook-up;

operation from mains power available at motorhome parking areas;

use in workshops or at service locations;

situations where the Plein-Aircon should not be operated from the vehicle battery for extended periods.

According to the Plein-Aircon documentation, the Z999/1250 Smart Switch Transformer Kit is required for 230 V operation.

Important limitations

The Z999/1250 is not a complete battery charger or multi-source energy management system.

On its own, it does not replace:

the charging equipment required for charging the auxiliary battery from the vehicle alternator while driving;

the solar charge controller required for solar panels;

a suitable battery charger for charging the auxiliary battery from a 230 V mains supply.

The primary function of the kit is to supply the Plein-Aircon 12 V rooftop air conditioner from a 230 V mains source.
